Ben Bentil
Measurements
6'8" 235 lbs 21 years old
Pro comparison
A smaller and faster Patrick Patterson
Strengths
Ben Bentil had a great sophomore season at Providence and performed well in the NCAA tournament. He is best known as a shooter and ran a lot of pick and pop plays with Kris Dunn. His overall percentage from 3 can improve, but he has a smooth stroke and is able to shoot from distance very well. Bentil is very fast and would frequently run the baseline to get open shots in the corners. He has good post game and shows good footwork and touch around the basket. He also uses his strength against taller defenders to get his shot off. He is, by all accounts at Providence, a very hard worker and team player. Bentil lacks length and explosiveness, which will hurt him in the NBA, and may cause him to slip after combine workouts. He is not a great passer and posts a bad 1:2 assist to turnover ratio, but with practice this can be improved. Lastly, Bentil is a solid defender at Providence, but he may struggle to contain larger PF's or quicker SF's in the pros. Overall Bentil has some good skills that fit the modern NBA, he is strong, fast, and can shoot the 3. He has the potential to be a solid contributor for an NBA team.
