Brandon McCoy got off to a hot start and averaged ~20 pts and 12 rebs the first month or so of the regular season. He has a pro level body and will be able to pack on muscle with NBA training. Athletically, he's a solid prospect, he is fairly fluid/fast as a rim runner and has solid explosiveness in space. He rebounds the ball well, he has good hands/instincts and finds a way to get to the ball. Offensively, McCoy is primarily a back to the basket player, he does a good job not wasting time/motion and keeping the ball high. He scores most of his points off cuts, layups/dunks, and garbage opportunities, however, he has shown flashes of backing down and facing up opponents. He will need to continue developing his game if he wants to stay on the court in the pros. Defensively, McCoy has some solid physical tools to work with, but needs to maintain his intensity level throughout the game. He's not the quickest player laterally and tends to struggle switching onto smaller guards in P/R situations. Lastly, McCoy needs to improve his court vision, he posted a poor 0.5:2.6 AST:TO ratio and struggles to find the open man when posting up. Overall, McCoy is somewhat of a niche player who could fill a role as a backup big man with upside.
