Bruce Brown was in the running to be a lottery pick in last year's draft, but opted to return to Miami to improve his game and stock. Unfortunately, Brown's year was cut shot due to a foot injury which sidelined him for the NCAA tournament. However, aside from the injury, Brown failed to significantly boost his stock with his play as he failed to take the next step offensively many scouts were hoping he would. Brown is a good athlete who shows solid burst/quickness with the ball and has the explosiveness to finish above the rim. He uses his athleticism extremely well when it comes to rebounding (7.1 rebs per game) and on defense, but is still learning how to best use his tools on offense. Offensively, Brown is a fairly raw prospect, he shows flashes of being able to shoot, but is not currently a threat as a shooter. He lacks overall shot diversity and struggles to finish against length around the basket. He has some offensive versatility as he played some PG mins for Miami this past season, he's a capable passer and improved as a decision maker, but will need to tighten his handle and cut down on his turnovers if he's to consistently create in the NBA. Defensively, Brown is a versatile and tough nose player who projects to cover multiple positions in the NBA. Overall, Brown is a buy low prospect who has some solid upside due to his combination of toughness, athleticism, and developing skill set, and is worth a flier in the late 1st/early 2nd round.
