Hamidou Diallo is this years mystery man of the draft, he graduated high school in May of 2016, played some basketball at Putnam Academy of Science and then enrolled at Kentucky for one semester. Many thought he was going to suit up for the Wildcats, but never played a game, in part due to the Fox/Monk combo and also due to the fact that it's just better to stay a mystery around draft time, especially when you're a freak athlete. Diallo tested extremely well athletically at the draft combine, he posted the top speed in the shuttle run and the best vertical leap at 44.5", 2nd best all time at the combine. He uses his athleticism well during games and not shy about attacking the rim. He also shows the ability to shoot it from outside and create off the dribble. He posted good measurables at the combine as well, with a 6'11.25" wingspan combined with his athleticism there's no reason why he couldn't be a good defensive player a few years into his career. Diallo does need to improve his feel for the game and overall offensive game, he has limited experience playing against top level competition and making the jump straight to the NBA will present a difficult learning curve. Overall Diallo will likely be a first round pick because why not take a gamble on an elite athlete, he has high boom/bust potential, but if developed properly could be one of the steals of the draft.
