Jalen Brunson finished up a great season where he won multiple awards including national player of the year and helped lead the Villanova Wildcats to a national championship. He's an extremely smart PG who efficiently runs an offense, he has a tight handle and strong frame, which allows him to get to the hoop and create passing angles. He's a high character person who confidently led the number 1 team in the country and projects to be a strong leader in the pros. Offensively, Brunson can do a little bit of everything, he shoots the ball well from deep (40.8%) and off the dribble, but his bread and butter is his ability to use his strength to post up smaller guards. Brunson is also a good passer (4.6 asts) and rebounder (3.1 rebs) for his size/position. Brunson, however, could improve his ability to finish over length by adding a runner/floater shot to his game, he tends to take his time in the paint and looks to back players down too often or settles for fade-away jumpers close to the hoop. He could look to be more aggressive in terms of taking it to the hoop and drawing fouls (4.1 FTA per game). Athletically, Brunson is limited, he lacks good/elite level quickness and explosiveness, while he's learned to play as an average athlete, he will likely struggle trying to create separation in ISO situations in the pros. Brunson's combination of size and athleticism also limit his versatility, he has the skill set to play off ball if paired with a larger/quicker PG, but would struggle as a consistent SG in the NBA both offensively and defensively. In terms of defense, Brunson holds his own due to his BBIQ/strength, but is limited by his lateral quickness and may struggle staying in front of NBA level PG's. Overall, Brunson is a player you want to have on your roster, he has a high floor, brings toughness/BBIQ, and is a player you can trust to produce in games from the start.
