Kobi Simmons came in to Arizona as a highly rated High School player, but failed to live up to the hype during his freshman season (saw a minutes reduction the back half of the season). He is a hyper athlete who shows flashes of a being a good all around scorer, but needs to become more consistent on both sides of the floor if he is to succeed in the pros. He can handle the ball fairly well and has a variety of moves off the dribble and he plays the P/R fairly well. He is perhaps versatile enough to play some spot minutes at PG, but is more of a natural SG. He has all the tools to be a good player in the NBA, but a lot will depend on his development. He needs to improve his feel for the game, defensive intensity, strength, and efficiency. All of these weaknesses are real concerns, but he does have the potential to overcome them. Overall Simmons may end up being a better player in the pros than in college and he may be someone worth taking a flier on late in the second round.
