Skal Labissiere
Measurements
7'0" 225 lbs 7'2" wingspan 19 years old
Player comp
Similar to Chris Bosh, Brandon Wright, and Channing Frye
Strengths
Skal was projected to be the number 1 or 2 pick in this years draft, but due to low production at Kentucky he has slipped. For a legit 7 footer he failed to take advantage of his size on the glass and on offense. He wasn't assertive enough and would be invisible on the court for stretches. He is still fairly weak (216 lbs), but he has a good frame to bulk up. Added muscle will improve his rebounding and post defense. Defensively he is already pretty good, he is a great shot blocker and can cover the pick and roll pretty well. He can run really well for a player his size and he is coordinated enough to push the ball off of rebounds. His shooting has improved, his mechanics are good, it is a slower shot, but it is pretty reliable. He has the potential to become a stretch 4/5. He also has good touch around the basket with small jump hooks and will add more post moves in the pros. His lack of explosiveness off the floor combined with a standard wingspan allow him to get blocked by smaller defenders. Labissiere really came on late in the season and had a couple of good performances in the tournament. Overall I think he will be a solid NBA big man if he continues to work hard, he will be a project, but he has some great tools.
