Tyler Ulis
Measurements
5'9" 160 lbs 6'1" wingspan 20 years old
Pro comparison
Runs a team like Chris Paul and scores like Isaiah Thomas
Strengths
Tyler Ulis is one of my favorite players in this draft. He, like Sabonis, really benefited from staying an extra year in school. This season he won the SEC player of the year award and the SEC defensive player of the year award. He is a great floor general, he is very patient and vocal as he directs players around the court to get the best shot. He is also very efficient with the basketball (7:2 assist/turnover ratio) and rarely forces the issue. He is a very good athlete and gets good elevation on his jump shot and can finish over taller defenders by using his body and hang time. Ulis is very crafty and uses a variety of fakes and dribble hesitation moves to create space (much like Isaiah Thomas). Lastly Ulis is mentally tough and plays with a chip on his shoulder (as all little guards do). The main weakness is his size, but as he's shown up to this point in his career, he can play against anybody. With that, he will need to bulk up like Thomas has done in order to guard larger guards in the post. Overall Ulis will be a good starting PG in the NBA or a really good backup.
