The Celtics are coming off a great season where they made it to the Eastern Conference Finals and were the top seed in the East. They also landed the #1 pick in the draft which was later dealt to Philadelphia. The Celtics may have had an opportunity to go trade for Paul George or Jimmy Butler, but opted to stand pat with their assets and ended up signing Gordon Hayward in free agency (dealt Avery Bradley to Detroit for Marcus Morris in order to make the money work). With the #3 pick they selected Duke SF Jayson Tatum, he brings more versatility at the wing position and perhaps is a polished enough player at this point to get meaningful minutes throughout the season. The Celtics then continued to add versatility/depth by drafting Semi Ojeleye, Jabari Bird, and Kadeem Allen. Getting Ojeleye with the #37 pick may be one of the steals of the draft. The Celtics may have to cut some young players on the roster to make room for all the picks they've used, but overall they've had a great offseason.
