The Grizzlies had a solid season and finished with a record of 43-39 (good enough for 7th in the playoffs). They still have their 2 best players in Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, but both aren't getting any younger and have battled injuries in the past. Losing Randolph and Carter hurts their depth and toughness, but they managed to do a good job adding young talent through the draft. They acquired picks 35 and 45 in the 2nd round and selected Cal PF Ivan Rabb and Oregon SF Dillon Brooks, both of which are great fits in Memphis. Rabb slid in the draft, but is a skilled big who is still developing, Brooks on the other hand is a tough competitor who brings versatility/athleticism to the wing. They also added undrafted talent by signing Arizona SG Kobi Simmons. Adding those guys to a young core of Baldwin, Seldon, and Davis doesn't look too bad. In free agency they signed former Kings Ben Mclemore and Tyreke Evans to very reasonable deals. The Grit and Grind days in Memphis are still alive, but it seems as if they could be fading fast. Staying healthy will be key for them throughout the season, and while Fizdale will have them competing every night, I'm not banking on them being a playoff team.
