The Hawks are coming off another strong season where they made the playoffs as a top seed. They have an interesting roster with a blend of youth and veterans. Jeff Teague and Al Horford were shopped at the deadline, but no trades materialized. Horford is a free agent this summer and will likely sign elsewhere, and it appears the Hawks are also ready to shift gears from Jeff Teague to Dennis Schroder. Teague still has 1 more year on his contract and could be traded sometime this year. The Hawks also have to decide if they want to re-sign Kent Bazemore or give those minutes to Tim Hardaway Jr. With all of the current and future holes the Hawks have on their roster they'll need to use their picks wisely.
(Updated 7/10/16) The Hawks have had a busy off-season so far as they dealt PG Jeff Teague to Indiana in part of a 3 team trade with Utah which netted them the 12th pick (they also signed Dwight Howard and lost Al Horford). With the 12th pick they selected Taurean Prince from Baylor. Prince brings size and toughness to the SF position. The Hawks also selected Deandre Bembry and Isaia Cordinier with the 21st and 44th picks. Both Bembry and Cordinier are athletic wings who have some potential, Bembry will crack the rotation, but Cordinier will most likely stay in Europe until he is ready to come over.
