The Magic are coming off a disappointing season where they were hoping to make the playoffs, but failed to do so. In the 2016 offseason they decided to sign or trade for multiple bigs, which created somewhat of a log jam during the season. It was relieved a bit when Serge Ibaka was dealt to Toronto for SG Terrence Ross and a 2017 1st round pick. There is hope in Orlando as Head Coach Frank Vogel and new GM John Hammond look to turn the roster/team around. The Magic held the 6th pick in the draft and Hammond did what he does best in drafting versatility/length with Jonathan Isaac. Later in the draft the Magic picked another versatile point-forward type in Wesley Iwundu. Both are projects, but both are good pieces/assets to have in today's NBA. With that being said, the fat still needs to be trimmed on this roster, management will need to make decisions on Payton, Vucevic, and Hezonja, all of which have been shopped in the past. Aaron Gordon will also need to take a jump in play next season if the Magic want to compete for the playoffs (please play him at the PF spot). Overall there's work that still needs to be done, but there's always hope when you have a solid front office and coaching staff.
