Draft board
The Timberwolves made splash on draft day and traded Zach Lavine, Kris Dunn, and the #7 pick to Chicago for Jimmy Butler and the #16 pick. Butler is now reunited with Tom Thibodeau and the Timberwolves seem primed to take a big leap this upcoming season. It'll be interesting to see how Butler fits in with some of the Timberwolves young core, he's currently in his prime years, but Towns and Wiggins are the current faces of the franchise and one may be ready to take the alpha dog role before Butler is ready to give it up. The Timberwolves also traded Ricky Rubio to the Jazz for a future protected 1st round pick and then turned around and signed Jeff Teague. He'll provide more shooting to a roster that desperately needs it, but he'll be a downgrade in terms of passing and defensive ability. They also added another former Bull in Taj Gibson and another veteran presence in Jamal Crawford. Lastly they selected Justin Patton with the #16 pick, unfortunately he suffered a foot injury which required surgery, but he's a player with a somewhat high ceiling and can find a role in Thibodeau's system. Playoffs will be the new expectation this season and with a more studded roster the drought may end in Minnesota.
